In an early scene in “Smile 2,” the fictional pop superstar
Skye Riley is in her drug dealer’s apartment. “Do you believe in weird stuff?” he asks
her, between doing lines of coke.

You certainly will after this horror romp – writer-director Parker
Finn’s second movie that suddenly opens up the franchise
with the promises of multiple directions in the future.
Not for that drug dealer, though: He soon smiles at her demonically as he repeatedly slams a 35-pound gym
weight into his head, making it hamburger.

“Smile 2” lands as unsettling grins are plastered on pumpkins and politicians
alike as we approach Halloween and Election Day, and the psychotic,
overly made-up leads of “Joker: Folie à Deux” have been putting up a brave face at their terrible box-office numbers.

So it’s the perfect time for a sequel to 2020’s “Smile,” which bridged the gap between elevated art horror and straight-out,
unapologetic slasher. Finn this time takes on fame, a better tonal
fit than the generational trauma of the first. It’s a meditation on breakdowns in the public eye, with a side dish of body horror.

We start six days after the last movie but they are barely connected
– a single character for a few minutes – as we watch a demon that forces its victims to smile before meeting
a gruesome end working its way into the low-level drug game.

The evil entity will eventually glom onto
our heroine, Skye, a fictional Grammy-winning pop superstar akin to if
Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus had a baby. We meet her a year after a
horrific car crash she was in that killed her famous boyfriend and left her with a Vicodin addiction and rumors about whether she had anything to do
with it. That drug dealer has now infected Skye, but she has no idea what’s in store (or in score,
the terrific work of Cristobal Tapia de Veer).

On thing to really beam about is leading lady Naomi Scott going for it all-out, all snot, smeared blood and wide-eyed,
full on-fear. Scott manages to pour her humanity into the part – diva, whimpering, defiant, strung out, panicked.
She even sings on the soundtrack – songs that are
credible hits.

The smile demon collides with Skye as she’s about to launch a comeback tour
and the pressure is on. Finn is at his best here,
mocking confessional TV interviews – a Drew Barrymore cameo, a nice
touch – full of self-work and apologies: “I let you down and I promise this will never happen again.” Her management
demands that she show up “smile and read from the teleprompter.” Skye’s mom
– on the payroll – is little help: “You need to stay hydrated,” she tells her after Skye is clearly in torment.

Finn has become a much more assured filmmaker and uses humor so well here, from nasty gangsters enjoying pumpkin Frappuccinos to our
heroine Googling “Does vomit have DNA?” He’s still fond of jump-scares and blood spurting and gross-out tricks, like a
body dragged by a truck until it’s just a smear with entrails.
One delightful moment has Skye chased by demonic backup dancers,
a Bob Fosse-meets-“Thriller” sequence.

Finn also has a ball putting his heroines into cringe-worthy situations.
In the first movie, a murdered cat got bundled into a kid´s birthday present.
In this one, it’s a impromptu speech in front of music industry types that goes horrifically
off the rails. He’s got a deeper target: How do we quiet those voices in our heads that say we’re no good?

Finn’s script sometime lags as he searches for an ending for “Smile 2,” seemingly in two minds, before
basically delivering both, kicking up dream sequences and alternate timelines like a squid pumping out ink to cover its tracks.
Over two hours ends up being too long.

But he has found a great satirical target, given life to a third film easily and showcased
another rising star to watch. That’s a reason to, well, smile about.

“Smile 2,” a Paramount Pictures release that lands in movie theaters
on Friday, is rated R for “strong bloody violent content, grisly images, language throughout and drug use.” Running time: 127 minutes.

Lady Gaga plays Harleen ‘Lee’ Quinzel, a fellow inmate
on her way, fans believe, to becoming Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn. 

The pair hit it off at a music therapy class, and are soon mutually
smitten, but Lee makes it clear that she loves the dangerously charismatic Joker, ‘clown prince of crime’,
not the gloomily introspective Arthur.

Eventually, after Arthur’s high-profile TV appearance with a smug interviewer played by Steve Coogan, it
is time for the trial, with all of Gotham gripped by the subject of multiple personality
disorder. 

His lawyer (Catherine Keener) strives to show that Joke is accused of five murders, rather than Arthur. Lee just as urgently wants him to
identify as his demonic alter ego. 

In the final scenes, Arthur renounces his Joker alter-ego and is
found guilty of first-degree murder.

As he is being sentenced a car bomb detonates outside the court, with
two people helping Arthur escape, but he is later caught by the police and taken back to Arkham. 

In the Asylum a young patient begins to tell Arthur a joke, before stabbing him in the stomach and while
he bleeds to death, carves a smile into his own face. 

It raises questions surrounding the Joker’s true identity, as it would seem he never went
on to become the famed villain, instead he was just the person who inspired the man who eventually became him. 

Folie à Deux begins with Arthur behind bars in Arkham Asylum, waiting to see
whether he will be judged sane enough to stand trial for the murders he committed two years prior

Director Todd, told Entertainment Weekly: ‘When those guards kill that kid
in the [hospital] he realises that dressing up
in makeup, putting on this thing, it’s not changing anything. 

‘In some ways, he’s accepted the fact that he’s always been Arthur Fleck; he’s never been this thing that’s been put upon him, this idea that
Gotham people put on him, that he represents. 

‘He’s an unwitting icon. This thing was placed on him, and he doesn’t want to live as a fake anymore — he wants to be who he is.’

The movie serves as a follow-up to Phoenix’s 2019 box office hit, which was simply titled Joker. 

The Todd Phillips-directed musical was released in theatres on October
4, following an October 2 international release.

Reddit user u/ElPresidente714 admitted to trying to have sex in the desert at night when coming back from Vegas.
But in reality, they were met with ‘creepy crawly desert things don’t sleep at night’.

Another, u/DonSmitty said a ‘buddy in high school’ covered his girlfriend (including her genitals) in chocolate syrup.

But it didn’t end well — she got infected with a ‘crazy’ yeast infection. 

Doing it in a storage unit was another unusual fantasy which ended badly.
User u/isthisfark wrote: ‘There’s a closing time and if you miss it

Not everyone pursues or even plans to act on their sexual fantasies in real life.
But a handful of those who have tried to make their browser history a reality have confessed they didn’t quite go to plan — a thread on Reddit revealed

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship
with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime Minister and a corporate titan, as he battles claims the Qantas boss
was his ‘personal travel agent’ for free flights and upgrades.

However that characterization of the relationship
was at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’ with Mr
Albanese and had been ‘for years’.

In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had
Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas chief.

When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was
purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister and shadow transport spokesperson before becoming Prime
Minister. 

‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline …
I had the same relationship with him that I have with
John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.

That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each other’s company. 

Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March last year.

In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the

Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling

During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said he had

Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership
to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny but talked up
his relationship with the Prime Minister.

‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr
Joyce said. 

However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic routes.

It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by
former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22
upgrades from economy from Qantas and he would liaise
personally with the former airline boss for them. 

Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while
in his various parliamentary jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and
included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu,
with some being for holidays.

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work purposes and all were
‘declared in the appropriate way’.    

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’
of Mr Joyce. 

Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had
directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the
transport sector.

‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone to one of
the most important stakeholders in the portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would
be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m not aware of anyone else having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.

It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership of
the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge

The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city
of Newcastle.

‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were
not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,
‘ he said.

‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’

Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident he was that Mr
Albanese had made calls personally to Mr Joyce for upgrades.

‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.

Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced
by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think that the Prime Minister’s office had nothing to do with the decision.

access to the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (pictured, Mr Albanese and

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the Albanese government that would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.

He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market
Qatar had seemingly been sailing through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead
in tracks. 

 Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block Qatar was
due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.

Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial
Review reported on Tuesday that he failed to do for his
former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

airfare. They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business class.
It’s out of our reach,’ she said.

‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions
about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of thousands of dollars worth of free
upgrades to business class? The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister and prime minister under a cloud.

‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is
also politically lethal. Albanese took care
to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made it.

But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public
office.’

Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s  apparent close relationship
with Mr Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff during Covid. 

The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by
the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts. 

The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil
Mitchell. 

‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.

‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having Alan Joyce as
a bestie? Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

Russell Crowe has argued that the rise of independent politicians are better
representing the views of everyday Australians, unlike the two-party-dominated system in the United States. 

The Oscar-winning actor made the claim in response to podcast host Joe Rogan  complaining that Americans
were ‘completely trapped in the two-party system’.

‘We have the same sort of situation, but we have a very interesting thing that’s happening in Australia at the moment, which is the rise of independents,’ Crowe countered.

‘The main parties have to deal with the fact those independents have to bring a non-party-line series of points to the argument.

‘And it’s working well. It’s working for us.
In that it’s making both of the main parties re-examine who they are and what they stand for.

Rogan mused ‘we could use that here, for sure’, highlighting how US politics is completely dominated
by the Democrat and Republican parties.

There are other parties, including the Green, Libertarian, and Reform
parties, but these receive vanishingly few votes in comparison.

Independent candidates can also stand and have been known to perform well on occasion.

Civil rights opponent George Wallace ran a third-party campaign in the 1968
US election which saw him garner 10 million votes and take five southern states, while another disaffected
Democrat, Strom Thurmond, in 1948 carried four southern states on a similarly racist platform but with only a million votes.

The nephew of a president, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was poised to get on the ballot in dozens of
states as an independent candidate before he
pulled out and backed Republican Donald Trump. 

He has now been appointed Health secretary in Trump’s incoming
cabinet. 

Trump himself had previously belonged to the Reform Party.

The former New York property developer had even considered running
for president in the 2000 election under the
banner of that movement – formed by former third-party presidential candidate
Ross Perot, who won 19 per cent of the popular vote in 1992 but gained
no electoral college votes.

Perot was the most popular minority party candidate since former Republican president Teddy
Roosevelt in 1912 ran as the Bull Moose Party candidate – carrying six
states including California and coming second ahead of Republican William Taft.

Australia has seen a rise in recent years of
nominally independent politicians who have taken votes away from the two traditional parties
of Labor and the Liberal-National coalition

This situation is helped by a strong Green party who now have 12 senators and four members
in the House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, independent candidates who run on strong climate platforms but are fiscally conservative have been labelled ‘teal’ candidates.

‘blue’ approach of the centre-right Liberal Party on economics.

Zali Steggall became the first teal independent to
achieve huge success when she ousted former prime minister
Tony Abbott in his seat in Sydney’s northern beaches at the 2019 election.

In similar fashion, Monique Ryan won the traditionally Liberal seat from
former treasurer Josh Frydenberg at the 2022 election. 

She was one of seven teals elected, swelling the lower house
crossbench to 16, with this tally including the
four Greens, three conservative independents and progressives Andrew Wilkie and Helen Haines.

Crowe’s three-hour conversation with Rogan, which was first aired in August, has recently resurfaced in teal social media adverts.

They are being pushed by Melbourne philanthropist Simon Holmes à Court, who founded
Climate 200, which has given campaign funding to some teal candidates.

Not all the 12 independents elected in 2022 were teals, however.

MP before serving the past three decades in federal parliament as the MP for
the regional far north Queensland electorate of Kennedy. 

Among his many mad-hat policies over the years include a bid to teach
school kids how to fire rifles and a desire to build a missile shield across northern Australia.

The House of Representatives crossbench grew to 17
in late 2022 when Andrew Gee quit the Nationals in protest at its opposition to the Indigenous Voice
to Parliament. 

The Greens and independents make up 11 per cent of the 151-member lower
house – the highest proportion of non major party MPs since Federation in 1901.

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime Minister and a corporate titan,
as he battles claims the Qantas boss was his ‘personal travel agent’
for free flights and upgrades.

However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by
Mr Joyce, who said he was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for years’.

In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the
Qantas chief.

When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was purely in a
professional capacity, having been Transport Minister
and shadow transport spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister. 

‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline … I had the same relationship with him that
I have with John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,’ Mr Albanese said.

That assessment was at odds with the many photos showing
Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying each
other’s company. 

Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March last
year.

In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks the red
carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around Mr
Albanese’s partner, Jodie Haydon.

Just five months later, in August, a smiling
Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special ‘Yes 23′
emblazoned airplanes for the Voice referendum.

with one arm around the prime minister and the other around his partner, Jodie Haydon for a special anniversary event last year

Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting
into laughter.

Even when Scott Morrison was PM,  Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with Mr
Albanese as the pair stood close together at the launch
of the Qantas’ landmark Perth to London flight in March, 2018. 

During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said he had been ‘friends for
years’ with Mr Albanese.

Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to
the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny
but talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.

‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said. 

However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he
lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of domestic routes.

It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy
from Qantas and he would liaise personally with the former airline boss for them. 

Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary
jobs to ask for special upgrades for himself or his family.

According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with
some being for holidays.

Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work purposes and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.    

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr
Joyce. 

Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese had directly
contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.

‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone
to one of the most important stakeholders in the portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would
be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because
I’m not aware of anyone else having done it,
‘ Mr Dutton said.

It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also has membership
of the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge

The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city of
Newcastle.

‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly were
not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight
from Australia to Dubai on the A380,’ he said.

‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’

Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how
confident he was that Mr Albanese had made calls personally to Mr Joyce
for upgrades.

‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.

Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced
by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’
to think that the Prime Minister’s office had nothing to do with the decision.

Mr Albanese’s son Nathan, 24, has reportedly also been granted access

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the Albanese government that would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.

He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar
had seemingly been sailing through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about the proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks. 

 Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block Qatar was
due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.

Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday
that he failed to do for his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

in his various parliamentary jobs

Even when Scott Morrison was prime minister, Mr Joyce appeared to
have a close relationship with Mr Albanese (the pair are pictured

Sky New host Sharri Markson on Monday night labeled Mr Joyce
as ‘basically Albanese’s personal travel agent.’

‘This is all a question of integrity. Most Australians struggle to afford even an economy airfare.
They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business
class. It’s out of our reach,’ she said.

‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens
of thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades to business class?
The revelations puts the decision he made as transport
minister and prime minister under a cloud.

‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically lethal.

Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy who made it.
But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public office.’

Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s  apparent close relationship with Mr
Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist
advocate while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff during Covid. 

The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal Court in a case brought by the union with
Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts. 

The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil Mitchell. 

‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.

‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having Alan Joyce as
a bestie? Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you simply didn’t refuse.
Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked potatoes, sure
didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu, but no one paid them much heed.
This was all about lashings of the black stuff.

Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are few better dishes on earth…only the price,
at just under £150, is ridiculous’

Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair
mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.

Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.

But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors
were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather
handsome – albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze
of a stern painting of a very stern man. The soft, crepuscular
gloom is broken up by the glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud
soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.

The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent beauty, clad in diaphanous couture.
They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone.
Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better than it ought to.
Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily,
glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent
charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu
performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely
blinked. Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and sour cream,
are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.

Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth.
I’d eat this every day if I could. But I can’t.
Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

world created for the 2019 film Joker.

‘It was a very special experience,’ she told People in the clip.
‘I had never seen a world created like that before.’ 

Gaga – born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta – plays Lee,
a version of Harley Quinn, in the upcoming film. 

‘She easily slipped into that world. It’s not like she’s trying to be Harley

said of Gaga’s performance. 

Gaga added of her performance: ‘It brought out all of that
rough and tough energy and how big these

Folie À Deux made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on September 4 and

Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album in February.

Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100
at No. 27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album,
which she described as both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’

Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project,
Gaga said that she’s been focused on the production side of her new songs. 

‘I love producing — I always have — and something that
was really important to me making my seventh studio album
was blending live instrumentation with programming,’ she explained.

and I think in that way is a deeply personal look into
my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.’

She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009

‘The album is not extremely serious in that
it’s very fun and meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a club, or
at home having personal fun time — to be free of your worries at home or walking through life,’ she insisted.

Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from
music critics, who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.

On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of her biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars duet,

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, “What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’
