රාජ්‍ය සේවා එක්සත් හෙද සංගමය පිහිටුවා අද දක්වාම සභාපති පදවිය දරන්නේ අපේ නායක හාමුදුරුවෝ බව අපි දන්නවා.
ඒ තුළින් හෙද සේවාවේ වෘත්තීය අයිතීන් මෙන්ම ඔවුන්ගේ විවිධ අවශ්‍යතා ද නායක හාමුදුරුවෝ සම්පූර්ණ කළේ දැඩි කැමැත්තෙන්. අද සෞඛ්‍ය ක්ෂේත්‍රයේ තිබෙන ප්‍රධානම බලවේගයක් බවට රාජ්‍ය සේවා එක්සත් හෙද සංගමය පත් කිරීමට හැකි වී තිබෙන්නේ උන්වහන්සේ තුළ තිබෙන නිවැරදි හා සෘජු නායකත්වය නිසායි.
රටේ අර්බුදකාරී අවස්ථාවලදී අපේ නායක හාමුදුරුවෝ පෙරමුණගත් හිමිනමක් බව විශේෂයෙන් මතක් කරන්න ඕනෙ.
1987 දී ඉන්දු-ලංකා ගිවිසුම අත්සන් කරන අවස්ථාවේ දී උන්වහන්සේ රට වෙනුවෙන් ඉටුකළ කාර්යභාර්ය සුළුපටු නොවේ.
එසේම උන්වහන්සේ වෙත යමෙක් පැමිණියා නම් ඒ අයට තමන්ගෙන් ඉටුවිය යුතු අවශ්‍යතාවයන් ඉටුකර දෙන්නේ පුදුම සතුටකින්.
ඒ වගේම මගේ දේශපාලන ජීවිතයේ සෑම විශේෂ අවස්ථාවලදීත් උන්වහන්සේ මුණ ගැහෙන්න ගියා. ඒ වගේම උන්වහන්සේ මා මුණ ගැහෙන්නත් නිතර වඩිනවා. එසේම මුණ ගැසුනු සෑම අවස්ථාවකදීම මා සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කළේ, රටේ මෙන්ම සම්බුදු සසුනේ උන්නතිය වෙනුවෙන් කටයුතු ඉටුකිරීමට අවශ්‍ය දේවල් පිළිබඳවයි.
උන්වහන්සේ තුළ තිබෙන පරිත්‍යාගශීලි ගුණය වචනයෙන් විස්තර කරන්න බැහැ, තමන්ගේ පරිහරණය සඳහා තිබෙන දෙයක් හෝ උන්වහන්සේ අනුන්ට පරිත්‍යාග කරන්නේ පුදුම කැමැත්තකින්. මට මතකයි 2015 දී පැරදිලා මැදමුලනට ගියාට පස්සේ අපේ නායක හාමුදුරුවන් වැඩම කළා. උන්වහන්සේ මා සොයා පැමිණ නැවත මේ රට ගොඩනැගීමට භාර ගන්නා ලෙස කළ ඉල්ලීම අදත් මට සිහිපත් වෙනවා.
එසේ ඉල්ලීමක් කළා පමණක් නොවෙයි අභයාරාම විහාරස්ථානයේ සිට අපගේ කටයුතු කිරීමට ලබාදුන් සහය මම මෙම අවස්ථාවේ දී කෘතවේදී ව සිහිපත් කිරීමට කැමැතියි.
එදා අභයාරාම විහාරස්ථානය කේන්ද්‍ර කරගෙන අප පක්ෂය නගා සිටුවීමට ලබාදුන් සහය තුළ අපට ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා මේ රටේ ජනාධිපති පදවියට තෝරාපත් කර ගැනීමට හැකි වුණා පමණක් නොවෙයි, අපේ රජයක් ද බිහිකිරීමට පුළුවන් වුණා.
මා විපක්ෂයේ සිටියදීත්, ඇමැතිවරයෙක් ලෙස සිටියදීත්, ජනාධිපතිවරයා ලෙස සිටියදීත්, අපේ නායක හාමුදුරුවෝ මා වෙත ලබාදුන්නේ විශාල සහයක්. අද බොහෝ පිරිසකට උන්වහන්සේ මේ රට වෙනුවෙන් ඉටුකළ මෙහෙය අමතක වෙලා. නමුත් මාගේ කළ්‍යාණ මිත්‍ර හිමිනමක් ලෙස උන්වහන්සේ මා වෙනුවෙන් මෙන්ම අප රජය වෙනුවෙන් ඉටුකළ සේවාව කිසිදිනක අමතක වන්නේ නෑ.
විශේෂයෙන් විශ්වවිද්‍යාල පද්ධතිය තුළින් බිහිවන්නේ මේ රටේ ඉදිරි ගමන් මග භාරගන්නා පිරිසක්, එහිදී දැනුම කුසලතා මෙන්ම විනයගරුක පිරිසක් බිහිකිරීමේ වගකීම රජයක් හැටියට අපට තියෙනවා. ඒ නිසයි උසස් අධ්‍යාපනය වෙනුවෙන් අප විශාල මුදලක් වැය කරන්නේ.

පසුගිය දවසක උන්වහන්සේ විශ්ව විද්‍යාල දරුවන්ගේ ඇදුම් පිරිසිදු කර ගැනීමට අවශ්‍ය රෙදි සෝදන යන්ත්‍ර 20 ක් පමණ පරිත්‍යාග කළ බව මා දුටුවා. එසේම දරුවන්ගේ අධ්‍යාපනය සඳහා ශිෂ්‍යත්ව 1000 ක් පමණ ප්‍රදානය කිරිමට අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු යොදා ඇති බව දැන ගන්නට ලැබුණා. ඉදිරියේදීත් අප නායක හාමුදුරුවන් කොළඹ විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය දියුණු කරලීමට අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු සලසන බව මා දැඩි සේ විශ්වාස කරන කරුණක්.
